Sundays Sept. 29-Nov. 17
10:00AM - 12:00PM
This workshop explores the art of theatrical storytelling. Participants will work in determining "what is the story" of a piece and then deciphering "what are the pictures and staging that will best compliment the text". As directing is both a craft and an interpretive art, the workshop provides the student with the fundamental tools of direction: play analysis, staging and composition, research and exploration of the rehearsal process including communication with designers and actors, approaches for the use of set, light and sound, discussions on the meaning of "concept", visual storytelling and actor coaching. Workshop will be both discussion driven and hands on, with participants directing their own short scenes.

Storytelling For Teens
Sundays October 20-December 8
Inspired by NPR’s “The Moth,” the Teen Storytelling Workshop will focus on the development of personal true stories. Initially, we will focus on establishing a supportive environment for storytelling, and will brainstorm multiple ideas. Participants will learn about structure and acquire the tools needed to tell an effective story. We will share drafts with one another and give feedback to refine the stories together. The 8-week workshop will culminate in a “StorySlam” in front of an audience. Class is open to teens ages 13-18. Space will be limited to 10 spots. Members of RTC Teen Workshop are encouraged to take this class. Nov. classes will be held in T149
